Experience
Meyer Mintz is the Regional Real Estate Industry Practice Leader for New York Metro and South Florida and a tax partner. With over 25 years of experience, he has works with many of the largest developers on all aspects of real estate. He has particular experience in the tax aspects of real estate transactions, including restructuring of partnership agreements, limited liability companies, and other business organizations. Analyzing potential transactions from both a tax perspective and an overall business perspective, he provides clients with a more comprehensive picture on which to base their decisions. Meyer has also worked with attorneys in litigation matters. He has testified as an expert witness on behalf of a defendant at a FINRA arbitration hearing. Meyer’s testimony regarding a complex tax matter was successful in sustaining the defendant’s tax position.
Working closely with clients, Meyer advises on:
- Planning and structuring joint venture arrangements, including property development
- Analyzing workouts and restructuring for any possible income tax pitfalls
- Equity reorganizations of real estate partnerships
- Advising the tax consequences of sales and purchases of real estate
- Maximizing the efficiency of day-to-day business operations
- Structuring for estate plans
Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Meyer was a tax partner and co-leader of the Real Estate Practice Group at Berdon LLP, which joined Citrin Cooperman in 2023.

Community Involvement
Meyer has worked with Legal Outreach, a nonprofit benefitting urban youth from underserved communities in New York City, to co-develop the “Let’s Make a Deal” program. This program seeks to impart a foundational knowledge of the real estate industry to high school students through monthly sessions and guest lecturers who introduce them to the inner workings of many real estate developers. As a board member of Vibrant Emotional Health, he is also actively involved in helping them with the good work they do, including overseeing Crisis Services and the National Suicide Hotline.
