Michael Sabatini, CPA
Michael Sabatini is the managing partner of the Plainview, Long Island office. Mike has more than 17 years of public accounting experience performing and managing audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and the standards of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). He has primarily served middle-market companies in a wide variety of industries with a particular focus in manufacturing and distribution, aerospace and defense, government contracting, food and beverage, and printing and publishing.
Throughout his career, Mike has served companies with a variety of ownership structures including both larger and smaller publicly held companies, private family-owned businesses, private equity backed companies as well as companies owned by ESOPs or other trusts and he understands the unique accounting, auditing, and business aspects associated with each structure. He has extensive experience with acquisitions, divestitures, capital raising activities, debt and other restructuring activities as well as other complex financial reporting issues.
Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman in 2015, Mike spent 17 years at a global accounting firm, the last seven of which were as a partner in both its New York City and Melville, Long Island offices. In addition to serving both public and private clients as the lead audit partner, Mike spent two years as the co-audit practice leader and two years as the lead professional standards partner for the New York offices.
Mike is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). Previously, he was named one of “Long Island’s 40 Rising Stars Under 40” by Long Island Business News. Additionally, he serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the Department of Accounting and Taxation at St. John’s University.
Education & Licenses
Mike earned his B.A. in Political Science with minor concentrations in Economics and Speech, magna cum laude from St. John’s University. He also received a Masters of Business Administration concentrating in Accounting from St. John’s University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.
