With over 20 years of experience, Craig Cafaro is a partner specializing in providing litigation support and forensic accounting services with a concentrated focus in the areas of tax controversies, tax examinations, and criminal and civil investigations. He also has extensive experience advising clients in connection with the IRS Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Programs, as well as various state programs. In addition, Craig successfully represents clients before various taxing authorities regarding tax examinations, penalty abatements, the Offer in Compromise program, and other tax complexities.
Craig’s background also includes tax planning and compliance for high net worth individuals, as well as auditing, tax, and accounting services for a wide variety of industries that include real estate and manufacturing.
Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Craig was a partner at Leon M. Reimer & Co., P.C., and also served as an internal auditor in the banking and insurance industries.
Craig is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He is also an AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services Section Member.
Education & Licenses
Craig received his B.S. in Accounting, Cum Laude, from Manhattan College’s School of Business in 1992. He is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and is also accredited as Certified in Financial Forensics.
