Brian J. Hoffman, CPA, CFE


B.J. Hoffman is a tax partner with over 23 years of experience in the areas of audit, tax, and litigation support. He serves clients in a wide range of industries, including closely held entities in staffing, health care, and franchising, as well as law firms.
Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, B.J. spent 19 years with two regional accounting firms.
As a tax specialist and CFE, B.J. counsels clients with a range of strategies, including detailed year-end multi-jurisdictional planning, which helps clients reduce income tax exposure. He also devotes a substantial amount of time to the area of trust and estate income taxation.
B.J.’s practice often goes beyond tax and audit work to include looking for fraud, waste, and abuse in order to improve his clients’ profitability. As a Certified Fraud Examiner, B.J. provides litigation support and forensic expertise to law firms.

B.J. has been quoted and published in business and trade publications in the manufacturing, medical, and legal industries, including SmartCEO Magazine, MedCITY News, the Philadelphia Business Journal, and the Legal Intelligencer, among others. He has been engaged to speak on topics such as tax-planning opportunities, most recently for the Mid-Atlantic Staffing Association (MASA).
B.J. is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). His current board positions include the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center and the Mid-Atlantic Staffing Association. He is a past president of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia and Southeastern Pennsylvania, and a past vice-chair of JEVS Human Services.
Education & Licenses
B.J. received his B.S. in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude, from Lehigh University’s School of Business and Economics. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Pennsylvania.
