Barry R. Newman, CPA
Barry R. Newman is an audit partner with over 30 years of experience working with financial services companies, including investment management firms, hedge funds, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and regulated investment companies. Barry also serves as an advisor to clients such as construction contractors, real estate professionals, companies engaged in wholesale distribution, and architectural firms ranging in size to more than 200 employees.
Barry provides an insightful approach that extends beyond traditional accounting and tax services, helping clients to stay ahead of industry demands by providing effective solutions to complex transactions. His broad range of counsel and strategies also extends to employee benefit plans audits, succession planning, due diligence tax-efficient strategies, R&D tax credits, and federal acquisition regulations for government jobs.
Previously, Barry spent 25 years at Schwartz & Hofflich, LLP, a regional firm that joined Citrin Cooperman in 2010.

Barry is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA).
Education & Licenses
Barry earned his B.A. in Accounting from the University of Connecticut at Storrs. He has also currently completed 33 of 36 credits towards a M.S.T. at the University of New Haven. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the States of Connecticut and New York.
